After being inspired initially by the shadows she saw in the grasses of trees She worked over a period of months to create a method that did not depict the subject in a 2-dimensional picture. When objects live or perishable, such as fruit and even people, they become a painting of them. Her ephemeral art style is apparent and the only thing that remains of Alexa Meade's work is the photographic image. Since the painting and photographic techniques are synchronized so tightly and result in a trompe l'oeil effect, that creates it appears as if three dimensions is only visible at certain places, for example the eye area and the hair. Meade has also integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3-dimensional space around them. Their interaction and this created world can be achieved. The lines between performance, photography, and installation is thus broken.
